A team from the Belgian Raiffeisen Foundation (‪#‎BRS www.brs.coop) in cooperation with KBC Bank , visits CamCCUL to discuss on possible areas of further cooperation. CamCCUL and BRS have been working together in the areas of ICTs Development and Risk Management within our network since 2011. At the end of this highly interactive visit key resolutions were taken to better improve on the CamCCUL/BRS partnership and proposals made to improve quality of services offered by CamCCUL.

BRS/CamCCUL Risk Management workshop CamCCUL organized an International Seminar on Operational Risk Management in partnership with BRS in cooperation with KBC Bank. The goal of the workshop was to improve on the capacities of top management of some 30 selected Credit Unions of the CamCCUL network on the risk identification processes, key operational risks and control measures. CamCCUL’s 48th Ordinary and Elective Annual General Meeting held on 25th June 2015 at Talotel Bafoussam under the patronage of H.E Augustine Awa Fonka, the Governor of West Region. The meeting was attended by over 350 Credit Union presidents (also known as delegates), observers, CamCCUL staff and partners. Delegates elected members of the Board with Musa Shey Nfor president of BapCCUL elected as President, to run the affairs of the network for the next three years. The highly interactive meeting took resolutions to better improve on the quality of services offered within the network.

CamCCUL and Credit Union women celebrate Women’s month The female folk within the CamCCUL network with the support of management took the celebration of the women’s month this year to another dimension. Through radio talks and conferences organized by CamCCUL, the women identified some of the financial challenges faced by women of all works of life within our community. Amongst other things it was repeatedly pointed out that a majority of women are yet to cultivate a savings and investment habit and that remains a great hindrance to women empowerment. Through interactive discussions practical resolutions were taken to assist women overcome these challenges. The Cameroon Cooperative Credit Union League (CamCCUL) is organizing an international workshop on Operational Risk Management in partnership with the Brussels based Belgian Raiffeisen Foundation (BRS). It shall be facilitated by 2 renowned experts from the KBC Bank, Belgium. The workshop is taking place at Hotel Le Paradis in Kribi from 30th November to 4th December 2015 and shall bring together top Management of CamCCUL led by its General Manager, Mr. TIENTCHOU Jonas and the Managers of 30 Credit Unions of the CamCCUL Network. The opening session shall be presided at by the President of the Board of Directors of CamCCUL, Mr. Musa Shey Nfor.

Director of Orange Money Operations visits the CamCCUL network Mr Musa Dao, Director of Orange Money Operations at Orange Cameroun visited the CamCCUL Network from 1st to 5th September 2015 and was very impressed with the uptake of Orange Money (electronic money for payment of bills, purchase of goods and services, money transfer etc) by our Credit Unions.  During his tour through some  CamCCUL Orange Money sales points, he paid close attention to the challenges raised at these sales points. At the end of his tour, he reassured CamCCUL Management that Orange Cameroun shall work ceaselessly to address the issues raised.

Extension of the PADMIR project to the North West Region Thirty nine (39) rural Credit Unions in the Bamenda, Fundung and Kumbo chapters recently benefited from technical and material assistance from the Support Project for the Development of Microfinance (PADMIR). Materials received included: 20 bikes, 13 safes, 11 computers and trainings on Governance and loan Default Management. This assistance is expected to improve the quality of services rendered to members by beneficiary Credit Unions.

G50 SEMINAR   Over two hundred (200) Credit Union Managers, Bod members and CamCCUL Chapter supervisors attended the G50 seminar which took place on 26th September 2015 at the CamCCUL Commercial Avenue Complex. The topics presented at the workshop included: Alternative dispute resolution, Network security, remittance transfers, calculation of League dues, ATM and the CamCCUL website. At the end of the highly interactive and successful seminar key resolutions were taken to better improve on the quality of services within the network.

G50 Seminar holding at CamCCUL Commercial Avenue Building Complex CamCCUL will be hosting 50 of its affiliates also known as the G50 for an important workshop that shall take place at the CamCCUL Commercial Avenue Building Complex on 26th September 2015. Four years after the G36 meeting, Presidents and Managers of the G50 are expected to participate actively at the workshop on issues related to recent strategic and operational developments within the Network.

Kumbo Chapter celebrates ICU day.  ICU day celebrations continue within the CamCCUL network at various chapter levels. Nkambe, Kumbo, Bafoussam and Mamfe chapters celebrated this great event on the 24th October 2015. Celebrations for Garoua and Kumba Chapters followed on October 31st 2015, as well as Douala on 7th November 2015. These celebrations were animated by activities such as match pass by Credit Union members, debates, cultural displays, games and handing over of prizes to meritorious Credit Unions and members. International Credit Union day celebrations 2015   CamCCUL and the Credit Unions led the International Credit Union Day celebrations in Cameroon with a launching event in Bamenda on Saturday 17th October 2015 under the theme “People Helping People”. Celebratory activities included handing over of office equipment to rural Credit Unions, recognition of outstanding Credit Unions and members, colorful cultural displays by various Union dance groups and a march past involving thousands of Credit Union members, staff and elected officials through the Bamenda Commercial Avenue.  Presiding over the event, Mr. Ivo Makoge  the representative of the Governor of the North West region encouraged CamCCUL and the Credit Unions to continue to position the movement to respond...

New management for better results 2016 The year 2016 began in CamCCUL with an all-staff meeting on 5th January 2016, at the CamCCUL board room in Bamenda, during which newly appointed staff were presented. The General Manager of CamCCUL Mr.TIENTCHOU Jonas welcomed both CamCCUL Head Office and Bamenda Branch Office staff to the meeting and wished all present a Happy 2016. Training on Loan Default Management

Training on Loan Default Management CamCCUL is organizing a training session for Board and Credit Committee Members as well  as Managers and Loan Officers of select Credit Unions on Loan Default Management. The sessions shall take place in Bafoussam from 31st August 2015 to 2nd September 2015 and from 3rd September 2015 to 5th September 2015.   The sessions are financed by the PADMIR project and shall be facilitated by a team of consultants from Microfinance Academy.   Similar sessions were held in Ndop and Kumbo from 17th August 2015 to 22nd August 2015 and from 24th August 2015 to 29th August 2015 respectively.
