Overview
The Cameroon Cooperative Credit Union League (CamCCUL) Ltd (MFI) is a network
of cooperative credit unions in Cameroon. It is the umbrella organization for
191 Credit Unions with a total of 196 922 (urban and rural) members. It provides
a wide range of services to its members. It manages savings that amount to
over Fcfa 41 thousand million. Loans outstanding to members amount to over
26 thousand million fcfa, reserves of over 2 thousand million Fcfa. Its network
consolidated balance sheet is 49 840 289 589 Fcfa.

Brief History
The idea of credit unions came to Cameroon through a Roman Catholic Priest Rev. Father Anthony Jansen from Holland The first credit union was started in Njinikom in 1963. Before embarking on the formation of credit unions, this Rev. Father had noticed among others, the following problems among the villagers: People hid money in their houses and white ants ate it; Farmers sold their coffee on trees during the
rainy season at less than half the normal price;
